WildTurkey

The random thoughts and rantings of a recent college graduate, muddling through life, trying to find my place and discovering I'm flypaper for freaks!...

And so it begins...school that is

Today is the first day of classes for my last semester...yay...I can't wait to get out of this hell and move on with my life, maybe actually make some money along the way, assuming I find a job after I graduate. I'm still at school, I have an hour break, and I'm bored out of my mind. My first class today was Criminology, and it went smoothly. It's the same professor I had for 2 of my classes last semester so the layout of the course is pretty much the same, should be relatively easy. My next class I have to go to is Criminal Justice Research Methods. Thats the class I'm dreading. I have professor Wang, who I had a year ago for Police Procedures. He is from China and speaks broken English, I'll be lucky if I can undersand what he is saying, let alone what he's teaching. All I want to do when I go home is to sleep, but I have to get some more work done on my resume, so that I can send it out to the medical examiners office this week.

Yesterday I went out and bought the fifth season of CSI...yes I know how pathetic I am, but I can't help it! My collection is now complete, I can't wait till season 6 comes out! Oh god I need help! I'm a CSI junkie...

Birthday dinner

My actual birthday isn't until Wednesday, but because it falls during the week, when I start school, and have to work, we celebrate during the weekend. This year it was the weekend before my bday. My parents decided to have a turkey dinner, and of course I was working all day cause it seems like thats all I do. I came home, got ready and Jenn and Steve arrived with boys in toe. Joshua was so cute, he wished me a happy birthday and gave me such a hug it knocked me over. Joshua helped me blow out my candles and open my presents. From Jenn, Steve and the boys I got a new media unit to put my DVDs (which I already put together) and it looks awesome! I got the 40-Year-Old Virgin DVD and a candle holder. From my parents I got $200 cash to buy clothes for job interviews, more minutes for my cell phone and new driving gloves. It was a nice way to end my winter break.

What should I major in?

With graduation May 13, I thought this would be a good quiz to post...

Your Scholastic Strength Is Evaluating

You are great at looking at many details and putting them all together.
You are talented at detecting subtle trends, accuracy, and managing change.

You should major in:

Statistics
Speech
Conflict studies
Communication
Finance
Medicine

Thank you very much, but I think I'll stick with Criminal Justice!

Weight Issues

The past week or two I haven't been in the best of moods. I haven't felt like doing anything with anyone. I'd just rather lay on the sofa and watch movies. When I'm feeling depressed I eat, more than usual. Then I become depressed because I'm gaining weight, its a nasty cycle that is really hard to stop. My mom is always telling me how fat I am or making some nasty comment about my weight (again, like she should talk!). It hurts but I try to ignore it. Last week my dad made a comment about my eating habits and my weight. That really hurt, my dad is my only ally in this house.

My mom forced me to clean out my closest yesterday and I found a skirt I wore my first year of college, a size 3. I can't believe how tiny the waist was, or that I was even able to fit into it at one time. I'm now determined that I'm going to fit back into it again. I don't care what I have to do to lose the weight, I'll starve myself if I have to, it’s going to come off.

The Car is Fixed

The car was fixed today. Repeating what I said in the last post, I'm freakin cursed! Doan is on the corner of 259 and Ridge road in Spencerport (just around the corner from my sister's house). She told me to call when I drop the car off, and she would come and pick me up on her way to drop off my nephew at preschool. I made sure my NEW cell phone was charged and brought it with me. I filled out the paper work, handed over the keys and walked outside to call my sis. I dialed the number and it said it connected but I couldn't hear anything, it wasn't ringing. I tried to call other people just to see if it was just my sister's number but it did the same thing. Great, I'm stuck at Doan Chevy, no one knows I'm there and my cell isn't working...could my week get any better! Apparently the call did go through to my sister, she could hear me, but I couldn't hear her. As it turns out my cell phone speaker in the earpiece is broken, and I need to get a new cell phone! Give me a freakin break!!

Anyway there was a whole list of things wrong with my car. The major and most dangerous thing was that the front wheel bearings were breaking. The mechanic said I brought it in just in time; the wheels were just about to fall off. He asked me if I had driven this past weekend, and I said I was planning on going over to see my friend's new apartment, but decided against it. He said that was a good idea cause my car wouldn't have made it on the expressway; my wheels would have broken off causing me to crash. On top of the new wheel bearings I also have new breaks, break pads and rotors, which is good cause my car might now pass inspection this month! Of course what we paid in repairs I could have bought a new car!

My Poor Car

My car is dying. For those that don't know I drive a 2001 Chevy Chevalier, dark green. It was the first car I bought myself, since my crappy Pontiac sunbird bit the dust almost 4 years ago. There has been nothing major wrong with it besides the major accident I was in when some teenager hit me 2 years ago. This last semester it had become rather loud, but I just ignored it, I thought well it's nothing big. This last week it has become 10x louder, and is now grinding. I told my parents last night and my dad took a ride with me. His response was "I've never quite heard a sound like that before". Great, that can't be good. I had a huge fight/blowout with my mother about it. My dad thinks it's the transmission, which will run me around $1,500 to fix. Ha... I don't have that kind of money!! After this Christmas my credit card is almost to the limit! My dad agreed to pay, but that is pretty much my birthday present.

So I called Doan this morning, and I can't bring it in till tomorrow, and there is no guarantee they can look at it this week. Joyous, in the meantime the guy said not to drive it. Easy for you to say, I still have to figure out how to get to work, this is not going to be a good week. These things always happen around my birthday, it was a week before my birthday that my sunbird broke down for good, and I had to buy the current car. It's 2 weeks till my birthday and this happens...I think I'm cursed...
