Happy New Year

I really hate New Years, almost as much as I hate Valentines Day. I don't know why, maybe cause for the last 4 years I've been alone on New Years. I'm not talking about alone as in I wasn't invited to any parties (I was, but turned them all down, especially my friend Michelle’s), but alone in the sense that I never seem to have anyone special to share the start of a new year with. It's around this time that I generally get into a funk about being lonely and become somewhat depressed, so why break tradition this year. I don't want to go to any of my friend’s parties because they all have boyfriends or at least dates. They will all be hanging on each other and kissing, and I don't want to be reminded that I don't have anyone. So for those who enjoy this event, Happy New Years...

The Christmas Goods

My Christmas was awesome. I had a great time with my family on Christmas Eve, hangin with my little cousins and nephews all under the age of 4, as well and seeing all my aunts, uncles and big cousins. I'm extremely close to my uncle Vel, so I was excited to see and talk to him. Christmas morning started off with my dad waking me up to open gifts, we then packed the car and headed over to my sisters for the second round of opening presents and a turkey dinner. In summery I received...

  • Motorola cell phone
  • Lots of clothes
  • Wireless internet router
  • Darts
  • Message oils, lotions and shower gels
  • DVDs
  • Christmas Ornaments
Setting up the cell phone was a struggle, but it is finally working. The wireless router was an even bigger struggle. I had a friend come over and try to set it up after I failed miserably at it. Then my brother-in-law came over to figure it out. Somehow he got it working, well kinda working. It only works on the unsecured setting. So he's researching and looking at the return police to try and fix the problem. Can't anything be simple anymore?!

Merry Christmas!!!!

Added Pics

I went to my nephew's pre-school Christmas show this morning and took some pictures. I added them to my gallary. There are only a few, eventually I will add a Christmas album after I take family pictures this weekend...Off to work till 9 again...

Were You Naughty or Nice This Year?

You Were Mostly Nice This Year!

Sure, you had your naughty moments... but guess what?
Santa was probably sleeping when you were living it up.
As far as he's concerned, you've been on your best behavior.
So cross your fingers, and you might score good presents.

Tis the season

Tis the season...horns honking, fingers flying and people yelling, and that was just the mall parking lot!!! I managed to finish all my christmas shopping in a matter of two days, and was very proud of myself. Now all that is left is to wrap the gifts, which I attempted to do this morning but failed miserably! Out of all my gifts I had only mangaged to wrap 3, the rest I will have to do when I get out of work. My one problem with Christmas is rude shoppers. I know that it is last minute and people are getting anxious to get things done, but it is no reason to take out your frustrations and anger on everyone else around you. I can't even count how many times I had been pushed and shoved Monday and Tuesday while shopping. An excuse me or pardon me would have been nice. At one point I was in line in the men's department in JC Penny's and had been waiting for 10 mintues, as I approched the cashier this man just came up and pushed me out of the way, I ended up having to get back in line and wait another 10 minutes. This part of Christmas I can do without!

I'm currently at work and there is NOTHING to do. The carts are empty and there are no little jobs to do. I'm stuck here till 9...ugh... Hopefully tonight will be quite with the teens and we won't have to call the police again like we had to last night. The young adult librarian is almost on a first name basis with the patrol officer. Who knew so much trouble could happen in little ol' Hilton...

Finals are finally over!

It's been a busy week and finals are upon us in full force. Monday was an essay exam for Forensic Anthropology, Tuesday was my Investigations exam and today was my Criminal Law exam. I can't breathe a sigh of relief just yet; my final project for forensic anthropology is due by 4pm on Friday. Taking tests is the hard part for me, the paper and poster boards are easy, I just have to sit down long enough to concentrate on it. My problem with the poster board is trying to organize my thoughts into a logical sequence. I can follow the thoughts in my head just fine, but they never seem to come out right on the board. I'm going to miss everyone in forensics; it was an awesome group of people. I'll especially miss Patrick, ahhh the laughs...good times!!!

The actual facial reconstruction is completed and is sitting out to dry and harden (thanks to Adam he has a name, Gerald!). He only has half a face, since the whole point is to show the skeletal features
, and how they look reconstructed w/ "tissue". I showed my criminal justice professor, who was really impressed. He is going to a forensic/criminal justice convention in March, and wants me to come with him. He is going to talk to the school about it. I would go with him and do a presentation on facial reconstruction, and bring "Gerald" with me. So I might be going to Baltimore in March for a few days!!! I think I've also decided to get my masters in forensic anthropology; I just have to look at schools. Anywho I should get back to work, I've posted a pic of the finished reconstruction, I'm so proud of it!

Weird sense of humor

A sick sense of humor runs in our family. It all started with my dad, and my sister and I have inherited it. I try not to show it too much, mostly cause my friends and most people around me don't get it, but if you get my dad, my sister and I in the same room, watch out! So I am at the kitchen table working on my facial reconstruction this morning, and doing the measurements for sculpting the nose. I had to run upstairs for something. I was gone a total of 2 minutes, in the process my dad is alone with my school project, this is what he ends up doing to it! I had to take a picture; I think the cause of death is self-explanatory! :o)

Busy Day

In the course of one day I drove to Hilton to go to work, then drove to Henrietta to MCC, then drove right to Brockport to go to school, only to drive back home in Greece. What makes me really mad is I went to MCC to pick up a book from their library called Making Faces, a how to book on forensic facial reconstruction. I get all the way there, and it's not on the shelf. So I go and ask the librarian at the information desk, and she finds that it is lost, I ended up driving away empty handed, oy! What a waste of gas.

So last week I went on a date with this guy Alex from one of my classes. He had asked me like five times before I finally agreed to go. And for some reason (I don't know why) I agreed to go out with him again. I don't really like him; I'm just not feeling it. He has no sense of humor, and looks at me strangely when I try to make a joke, he's boring and we have nothing in common. So we had a talk tonight and it's all settled...that was our first and last date!

Oy!

Crunch time has officially commenced! Last week I thought I was under pressure to get my forensic project done. All I had to do was the research, the poster board, the actual facial reconstruction, and the presentation. This isn't me procrastinating (lol, for once I can say that!) the professor has had all semester to get us all set to do these projects, but he has waited until the last 2 weeks to do it! Now I thought I was handling the pressure rather well, I was calm about it, although quite sick to my stomach thinking off all the things that still needed to be done. At this point I'm FLIPPING OUT!!! And this is why. The same professor decides to give us one last test while he still can, that was yesterday, (I did a horrible job on it, but honestly at this point I don't care!) anyway we are all sitting in the classroom talking, whining and moaning and trying to see where we all stand, in terms of the project. Patrick tells us he went to the professor's office earlier in the day to ask when the actual due date is. The professor tells him the poster boards, hands on examples, and papers are due sometime before finals. WHAT PAPER?!?!?! He never mentioned anything about a paper. Apparently he has added a SMALL paper to the project as well, and finals are a week away. Ok, so I'm thinking a small paper is like a 3-page summary of what we learned, yadda, yadda, yadda. Not quiet, he wants an 8-page paper! At this point I just want to cry. Needless to say as soon as I take my last final I'm going out drinking, getting hammered, and people better come with me.
