The random thoughts and rantings of a recent college graduate, muddling through life, trying to find my place and discovering I'm flypaper for freaks!...

At work

I'm at work right now on my break, and it is so incredibly boring. There is nothing to do, so I'm writing and surfing the web. I should probably be using this time to study, since I have a lab practical in forensics tomorrow, but I'm feeling fairly confident that I will do well. I've been here since 3 and I've put everything away (oh Amy you should see this...ALL the carts are empty!!!), Barb is playing hearts on the computer, and Tina is shopping online. When the boss is away, the employees will play :o) Today has been a really long day. I went to bed late last night and was woken up by my dad who came in to close my windows; apparently it had started to rain. Then my mom woke me up at 5am to tell me it was windy out. Like I wouldn't figure out when I woke up at 8 that it was windy out! In that process I must have turned my alarm clock off, cause it didn't go off, so I had 15 mins to get ready this morning.

I think I have figured out my Halloween costume...at least for the moment, who knows it might change tomorrow. I've decided to buy a short black/pleather skirt, and one Halloween store had a black top with a red corset, and I already have the knee high black boots. Sarah says I should just buy a whip and go as a dominatrix, but that kind of frightens me lol. I think I'm going to go with 'fallen angel'. I can buy the wings and then just wear a broken halo. I don't know... if anyone has any good ideas throw 'em my way. I best be getting back to work...

Quiz for today

Slow and Steady

Your friends see you as painstaking and fussy.

They see you as very cautious, extremely careful, a slow and steady plodder.

It'd really surprise them if you ever did something impulsively or on the spur of the moment.

They expect you to examine everything carefully from every angle and then usually decide against it.

This Weekend

This past weekend was an interesting one. Saturday was my nephew Joshua's 3rd birthday party. The morning started off with my sister dropping off the supplies for the party (the theme was Thomas the Train and Friends). I hung the streamers and birthday banner, and balloons. . We had pizza and chicken wings and one of Joshua’s gifts was a T-ball set. So I spent part of the afternoon teaching Josh to hit the baseball, and playing outfield and of course I also spent time with little Matthew. After spending the day playing with a 3 yr. olds it was time to go out with people my own age! We went out to barfly downtown, and we ran into a friend I graduated with. So we hung out with Charles for a while and I had a blast, he is the man! I had a long island ice tea, and Charles bought me a shot, something called a mind eraser...yeah it wasn't just a small shot, this thing was a drink onto itself! But I sucked it down, and after that things get a little blurry. We then headed to A-pub cause there was a band playing and I was actually out on the dance floor shaking it, I had so much fun!!! I don't really remember much; in fact I have no memory of how I got home! I passed out as soon as I got home, and awoke at 11:30am with a really bad hangover! I put myself together somewhat to spend the day with Sarah, although I stayed in my pajama pants all day. We went shopping for Halloween costumes. I still have no clue what I'm going to be so it was kind if a useless trip but nonetheless it was fun. We stopped on the way home, grabbed some junk food and came back to my place to watch the Notebook, ultimate girl time! All in all a really fun weekend, I want to do it again next weekend!

A great week

Ok, so I survived my two exams and two papers. Of course I was up all night for 2 nights, but at least I was able to catch 4 hours of sleep after the first test on Tuesday. My week has been great considering how it started. I had a blast in my forensics lab, laying out a box of bones in correct anatomical placement, it only took me 1/2 an hour compared to the other groups that took 1 1/2, and I only had 3 bones out of place, not bad! I think I'm slowly coming out of my shell at school, I belong to 2 study groups now, I've made friends with just about everyone in my forensics class (not that hard, only 8 people in it!). I had the best day today, in Immunology we had to pick our groups for our semester long project, I hate it when professors say just get into groups of 5, I always end up the last person without a group. Well not today! I spoke up and joined a group that had 3, and the people seem really nice. Then I went to Investigations and we got our tests & papers back. I got a 95% on the test and a 92% on the paper...I'm so proud of myself. After investigations I was talking to this guy Alex who sits next to me, we had a great conversation, and get this…he has expressed an interest me. He wants to take me out to a movie sometime next week, I didn't say yes cause I'm not quite sure about it, but we'll see. Ok now I'm off to watch my show CSI, it’s a new season and I have to drool over George Eads...God he's sexy!!!

Oh crap!

So I've now been up for 24 hours straight working on some criminal justice papers that are due today when I walk in for my Investigations test. As I'm sucking down what seems to be my 15th cup of coffee and getting ready for class I think to myself...wouldn't it be cruel if I find out that my first unit test in Immunology is today as well? I haven't checked the class schedule in awhile, I should check, and what do you know, just my luck there is a test on Sept. 20. THATS TODAY!!! Let me just say oh crap is the clean version of what I blurted out! At this point I'm ready to start hitting my head against the desk, it won't do much damage, since my brain turned to mush at around 4am. I'm overwhelmed and exhausted and about ready to throw a temper tantrum. The immunology professor drops our lowest test grade, so my solution right now is to skip the test, and take that zero as my lowest grade. So now that I'm not going to immunology I'm going to suck down some more coffee, take a long hot shower...and resume cramming for investigations...if I make it through this week it will be a miracle!

Going Insane

So yeah I didn't do a thing this past weekend, to sum it up I laid on the couch watching a string of movies, My Big Fat Greek Wedding, Serendipity, and the Notebook. I went to work this morning, then to criminal law which we talked about conspiracy and soliciting. I'll spare everyone the details of forensics, and then I had my forensics lab. Before I left for school I told my mother I would clean the upstairs (vacuuming and dusting) and I said I'll be home around 4:30. I walked in the door at 5:30 only to have both parents gang up on me. They start screaming at me about how useless I am and how lazy I am, that I don't help out around the house and that I wasn't home when I said I'd be home. I was so tempted to just turn around and walk back out the door. Do they care that my lab ran late? no, its all my fault. Ahhhh I need to move out, that is it, I can't take it anymore. I tell them I'm sorry I'm late, I have no control over that, but I'll clean as soon as get upstairs. My dad starts yelling at me that he had to do it, cause I'm irresponsible and make no effort to keep my word, which sparked me to snap back, that the professor ran late, what the hell do you want me to do, tell him "excuse me, I promised I'd vacuum the house, I have to go?" cause that would go over real well. Ok, now that I've vented I'm off to write a paper and study for the test in investigations tomorrow, all I have to say is this is going to be an long night. I have more pics of Matthew, so I'm posting them. The baby in the picture frame in the first picture is Joshua as a baby, they look like the same kid!

Second post today...

I know, its the second post for today, but I'm just trying to keep myself awake, and doing what I do best, procrastinating! I'm suppose to be typing a paper for forensics on autopsy procedure (I had to watch an actual autopsy yesterday. It was really gross, but I stuck it out!). Anywho I figured out how to add links to the blog as well as a cute little avitar that is suppose to be me, but doesn't look like it! I changed it so that you don't have to have a blogger account to leave me a comment, anyone can, and I finally got the counter to work...woohoo I'm so proud of myself, ok back to my paper...really...

Passing time

I just got out of Immunology, which was a really long class; I thought it would never end. We were in the computer lab today going over what we need to do for our class project, which has to include a computer simulation. Does someone want to tell this professor that not all of us know how to use HTML. It’s like a foreign language. Oh well, I'll cross that bridge when I reach it. I decided to spend Tuesday night watching a romance movie. Normally I don't watch those, I'm not really a fan of the sappy stuff, I like comedy. But I saw Raising Helen at work and checked it out. It was SO cute. I'm completely in love with John Corbett. I mean he was the whole reason I bought My Big Fat Greek Wedding. So I have decided since Sarah is marrying Zack Braff, I'm going to marry John Corbett. Not just because he's cute (which he is) but because he is so incredibly sweet and funny, he always plays the perfect guy! In meeting up with Michelle and Kate today, we have concluded that it’s guys like him in these movies that set our expectations in real life too high! So there it is...John Corbett, watch out here I come! ;o). Oddly enough, with all the crummy stuff that has happened this week, I'm in a really happy mood, not quite sure why, but hey, I'm not going to question it!

My Little Men

I know I've promised to put up pics of my little men, and here they are. My sister finally emailed them to me today. These are the only digital pics taken so far. She said she will take more next week. These were taken in the hospital, and Matthew is 1 day old, Joshua is holding his new little brother, how cute!

My life sucks

Hung out with a few friends tonight and watched a very funny movie Office Space, and I had a good time, but on my drive home I realized my life sucks. The whole week I have been in a funky mood, not really depressed, but not real upbeat, not really wanting to do things with friends, and have spent just about every moment alone sleeping. I thought I'd try a little experiment and stop taking my anxiety medication, cause I thought I was ready to. As it turns out I'm not, needless to say I'm making a new appointment this week to get the prescription filled again. Now I'm not taking the medication cause I'm depressed, or crazy, but for my anxiety (extreme shyness, call it what you want). I hate and will go to lengths to avoid social situations, and I'm better on a one on one basis. In fact once people get to know me, and I'm comfortable enough around them I can be quite outgoing. The anxiety leads to depression, cause I don't want to feel like this.

Anyway this weekend has been one of the
worst. Hanging out with my best friend these last 2 days has made me feel like complete crap. It's nothing she has done (she's the sweetest person in the world), It's just that I look at her, and she's so outgoing and bubbly, and I so desperately what to be that way. I spent the entire car ride home crying, and when I walked in the door my mother was such a help, she told me to suck it up, which lead my to cry for another hour. I've been this way since I was 12, and my mother’s reaction is the reason I had kept it secret from family and friends till this year, no one understands, and the answer I always get is to "suck it up". It sounds stupid I know, but I just feel trapped. I'm fun and outgoing, but in a social setting I clam up and retreat into my silence, it's just so frustrating. Anyway I'm done rambling, cause I know you are all wondering why I'm blogging this, but hey, it serves the same purpose as a therapist, only a lot cheaper. So now that I think I've cried myself out for the night, I'm going to bed.

New Blog

Ok, so here is the deal, I have decided that I really hate LiveJournal. It doesn't let me do things I want to do, and I can't really change the way it looks. Soooo I have switched over to Blogger, since that is what the Library uses for its blogs, and Cathy the Children's Librarian/Young Adult Librarian said I should try it. So here I am. Now I know I'm going to get a bunch of questions about the name. Ready set go....Why WildTurkey? ::Grinning at Amy:: It's a long story but it's my 'code' name at the library. Amy and I came up with code names for each other when mispronouncing titles of books, and they are all animal names. Amy is peeking duck, I'm wild turkey, and Tina is stalking horse. Ok I know we are weird, but when you spend 20 hours a week working at a library you start to lose your mind! Ok, so from now on I'll post using this blog, but I'll leave my livejournal on my profile for a little longer.
